Hohoe Glows with Worship and Unity at the 2025 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Hohoe was wrapped in warmth, worship, and community spirit on Friday, 12th December 2025, as the KCFC Foundation successfully hosted the Hohoe Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Kikis Court.
The annual Christmas gathering once again proved to be a powerful moment of reflection, celebration, and shared purpose for the people of Hohoe.
Although the event officially commenced at 8:05pm, it quickly settled into a smooth and spiritually enriching flow that lasted until 10:15pm. Attendees were treated to an atmosphere filled with reverence, joy, and a renewed appreciation for the true meaning of Christmas.
Music That Stirred the Soul
The night featured uplifting performances from the Edem E.P. Church Ghana Choir and the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Choir, whose harmonious renditions of traditional and contemporary carols set the tone for worship and reflection.
One of the most memorable highlights was the performance by guest pianist Mr. Allen Kafui Adusu-Donkor, popularly known as #AllenKafui, whose expressive piano ministration captivated the audience.
“That piano performance was something else,” said Comfort Amegashie, an attendee. “It felt like worship without words. You could feel the presence of God in the atmosphere.”
Officiated with Grace and Depth
The festival was officiated by Rev. Philip Grace of Impact Baptist Church – Ghana, whose opening prayer and brief exhortation anchored the evening spiritually. His ministry, supported by live saxophone and organ accompaniment, brought an added layer of depth to the programme.
“This festival reminds us that Christmas is not just a celebration, but a call to love, serve, and give,” Rev. Grace remarked during his exhortation. “What KCFC is doing here is ministry in action.”
Strong Community and Institutional Support
Despite invitations being extended to more than 20 institutions, the physical presence and support of ABSA Bank – Hohoe, Ghana National Fire Service, National Ambulance Service, National Health Insurance Authority, and VoV Radio underscored the importance of multi-sector collaboration in community development.
VoV Radio played a particularly significant role, offering extensive promotion ahead of the event at no cost, while Kikis Court provided the venue and logistical support that enhanced the overall experience.
“We believe in initiatives that bring people together for positive impact,” a representative from ABSA Bank – Hohoe noted. “This event aligns perfectly with community values and social responsibility.”
Behind the Scenes: A Collective Effort
Several individuals and partners contributed immensely to the success of the event. These included Mr. Prince Phafa Adom (sound equipment), Madam Comfort Alabison (refreshments), Mr. Samuel Duku (transport for lighting crew), Mr. Roger Agodzo (full sponsorship of carpentry and stage décor), Mr. Samuel Agbenyah (GH¢500 support), Mr. Evans Kujo Kpodo (event photography), and Mr. Christian Adusu-Donkor, who personally covered the cost of chairs and the main sound system.
Speaking on the motivation behind the event, Christian Adusu-Donkor, Founder and Executive Director of KCFC Foundation, said:
“This carols night is KCFC’s Christmas gift to Hohoe. It’s not about profit — it’s about bringing people together in worship and using the season to support children who need hope the most.”
A Festival with a Heart
Financially, the event recorded GH¢1,679 in income against GH¢5,606 in expenditure. Organizers were quick to emphasize that the festival is intentionally non-commercial, with proceeds supporting the feeding of children on admission at the Regional Hospital on Christmas Day.
“Even if one child smiles because of what we do, it is worth it,” Adusu-Donkor added.
Looking Ahead
While attendance was slightly below expectations, feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many calling for expanded publicity and earlier mobilization in future editions.
“I didn’t expect it to be this organized and impactful,” said Yaw Mensah, a first-time attendee. “Next year, I’m definitely bringing more people along.”
A Night That Left a Lasting Impression
In all, the 2025 Hohoe Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols succeeded in reaffirming the values of unity, service, and faith. As Hohoe continues to nurture initiatives that blend spirituality with social impact, the festival stands as a growing pillar of the town’s Christmas tradition, one that reminds the community that the true spirit of the season is best shared together.
